Hasham Khalid

poem # 2

When will I crawl out of

These self imposed hesitations

And walk with lucid steps

Towards the scene of the gentle truth

And embrace the dandelions swinging in the rain

Spread on the air

The fine tuning of our senses

Wakened to the season’s gift of fruits

The dark sweetness of mangoes

The empty chairs

Where loneliness abides

In its most perilous form

And darkness threatens

To upend the stream

From its habitat of fish and water

I see the sun reflected

In river’s undulating mirror

And at once it shows me lost

At other found

In such polarities I swim

The fireflies rise in the evening

To strings sweet voice

I am guided to

Mix my thoughts with the flickering

light of fireflies in the forrest

I am gone with the wind

To a sparkling heaven.
